Windsor chairs are constructed with lightweight parts—some straight and some bent—that are anchored into a heavy plank seat. One of the most significant advances of Gragg’s Elastic Chair design was the elimination of the heavy plank in favor of thin, bent elements that were joined together to create a strong and comfortable seat.
