Nearly straight cabriole legs like the ones on this table were popular in southeastern Virginia and northeastern North Carolina. Like the late baroque shaping of the skirt, the leg form was inspired by British prototypes. The only conspicuous ornamentation on the piece is the herringbone inlay on the top, another British detail popular from the 1720s to the 1740s.
