Round Tea Table
Chowan County, North Carolina, probably Edenton, 1750-1780
Mahogany
Catalog no. 99

Tripod, or “pillar and claw,” tea tables of neat and plain form were produced throughout the Chesapeake, even in rural areas. Most vary little in design except for a few popular local details. For example, this table exhibits the boxed underframe and applied bosses that were favored in the Chowan River basin.
