Norfolk, Virginia, 1765-1775
Black walnut with yellow pine and cherry
Catalog no. 142

This architecturally inspired desk and bookcase exhibits the classical, mathematical proportions that were the basic tenets of the neat and plain style. The glazed doors were originally backed by curtains that accented the neat and plain form and also protected the books inside from harmful sunlight.
