That the form of the of the eastern Virginia clock case on the left is similar to examples made in urban Great Britain is demonstrated by the London model next to it. The hood of the Virginia clock originally had projecting scrolls akin to those atop the London clock, while the shape of the trunk door is like those on clock cases from Liverpool and adjacent Lancashire.
