Tea Table (Base)
Probably Williamsburg, Virginia, 1760-1780
Black walnut

This tea table, which has a history of ownership in the family of Williamsburg cabinetmaker Benjamin Bucktrout, was acquired as a box of loose parts in 1995. The reshaped top (not shown) consists of several dissembled boards and two battens. Apparently the table was used until it simply fell apart. Despite its condition, the table may be an important clue to identifying other Bucktrout pieces.
