Toilet Mirror, ca. 1710
London, England
Pine and red japanning
Lent by John H. Bryan

A "lady’s toilet" referred to a small dressing box that contained powders, perfumes, pins, combs and the like. With its tiny lidded boxes, bright red compartments, and velvet pin cushion, this japanned toilet mirror and its precious contents would have added great visual allure to a lady’s dressing table.
