Alpacca (silvered metal alloy) with synthetic resin
Lent by The Nelson-Atkins Museum of Art, Kansas City, Missouri. Purchase: The Charlotte and Perry Faeth Fund

Grete’s signature conical teapot design was mostly executed at Haël in ceramic, but there are a few known examples of the stunning design made in silver and in a copper/nickel alloy called “alpacca silver.” The manufacturer of the alpacca vessels, like this spectacular example with black synthetic resin handles, is unknown. A version of the design in silver was made by German silversmith Werkstätten Richter-Engel.
