Peteran has said, “clear boundaries are what interest me.” Most recently, the limitations on his work have been self-imposed, but during the first stage of his career, the context of a particular commission played the same role. He created the immense set of doors seen here to fit a private home in Toronto. A miniature antique volume of Oliver Goldsmith’s The Vicar of Wakefield floats in cast tendrils of bronze while an eerie passage from the text appears transcribed on one panel’s curved surface.
