(open). This trestle-base table with flat gates differs from the two other
illustrated examples in that its turned uprights are tenoned up into a cross
piece at the top rather than dovetailed to a thick board. The severe warp
in the top is typical of flat-sawn red gum, a notoriously unstable wood.
